Is Internet Banking safe?
Internet or online banking is a very safe way to do your banking, you use a secure login and password to access your account on a secure site. There are also added precautions you can take to ensure security is maintained.
What precautions should I take when doing my banking online?
Remember to always type in the full URL address in the address bar - https://www.postbank.co.za. Use up to date anti-virus software and a personal firewall. In most cases, it should be safe to do your internet banking from just about any computer, use your secure login and password and make sure that no one can see these. You need to be aware of instances where you are on a shared network, like in an office space or at an internet café, make sure you are in reputable surroundings, if you have doubts rather use another facility. Even if you use your home computer you need to control access to your computer, don’t just allow anyone to install programs on your computer if you don’t know what they are for. Do not run any program files unless you know where they come from and that they are safe.
